          | | BEWARE: Termites infest 1 in 4 homes in the Georges River Council Region | |

          | | | |
          | | | |
          | | | |
          | | Termites are a major worry with recent industry surveys indicating about one in four homes will suffer a termite infestation in the Georges River Council region. To make matters worse your home insurance will NOT cover damage to structural or decorative timbers caused by termites. It is usually
very expensive to replace structural timbers in roof, walls and flooring.
Termite nest inspection in a wall cavity shows a FUMAPEST Termite Inspector examining a large above-ground termite sub-nest built inside a wall cavity of a home.
Termites build such nests where moisture collects inside the cavity, say from leaking pipes, shower recess, faulty guttering or down-pipes - extensive damage often results.
If you find termites in or around your home you should first arrange for a FUMAPEST Termite Inspection & Report to AS.3660 which will note evidence of termite activity (past and present); high risk termite entry points inaccessible to inspection; and specifications for tailor-made termite control options; termite treatment costs and warranties.
Termite Colony Elimination FUMAPEST may use Termidor dust or Nemesis bait direct onto live termites whereby central colony eradication is certain if enough Termidor dust or Nemesis Termite Bait is transported back to the central colony. We closely monitor baited termite activity areas at 2 to 3 weekly intervals, to assess level of consumption of the termite baits and to replenish the bait, as and when required.
Nemesis Termite Bait contains an IGR insect growth regulator that prevents the worker termite from regrowing its external skeleton after moulting. The IGR is slow acting. Worker termites ingesting the bait will feed partly digested timber and the bait to other termites in the central colony nest. Termites are known to cannibalise other dead termites thereby further spreading its lethal effect - more details
FAQ : DIY Termite Baiting - is it worth the RISK ? Termite colony elimination relies on sufficient termite bait being consumed by sufficient termites. Even if successful there is NO guarantee another colony nest is NOT attacking the home. With so much at stake we recommend DIY Home-Owners NOT attempt termite baiting without expert guidance.
Reliable 100% Termite Protection : the leading termite control products approved for use against subterranean termites in Australia and USA are Premise and Termidor. Both have been extensively tested and if correctly applied as per AS'3660 will provide reliable 100% long term termite protection - in the vast majority of situations.
Premise & Termidor are used for treatment of soil at the base of a building to prevent termite entry into the building; these products indicate there is also a delayed transfer effect for termite colony elimination. Life expectancy of such a treated soil barrier is more than 10 years protection - if applied correctly - more details

          | | Highly destructive termites are known to destroy structural timbers in a home within a few months. Your home insurance will NOT cover the cost of repairs - which can be substantial.
We recommend you read the Termites section of this web-site to help you assess the risk and to select which of the termite control options can best protect your property.
Alternative termite control methods aim at exploiting certain behavioural characteristics of subterranean termites found in varying types of building construction

          | | Be Careful in selecting a Pest Controller ✦ it is far too easy to get a NSW Govt issued pest control licence and start up a Pest Control business in NSW with little knowledge or experience in pest control ✦ click here for more details. The NSW Pest Control Licensing system is subject to National Competency Assessment guidelines. Mediocre testing can
be carried by Private Workplace Assessors (not part of TAFE system). The
so called competency assessment can be a combination of oral, written and visual
            tests.
 Private Workplace Assessors are given
guidelines in National Competency Standards but there is no
set standard test or specific knowledge requirements. Once privately
assessed as "competent" then a NSW EPA Pest Control License will be issued to the individual. There is no published list of
            Private Workplace Assessors.
The System is Inadequate: Some Private Assessors offer a one week course. A person so issued with a pest control licence can set up a Pest Control business (registration not required) and employ an unlimited number of trainees, using pesticides in people's homes without direct personal supervision.
FUMAPEST Setting the Standard in an industry plagued by fly-by-night operators, FUMAPEST Termite & Pest Control stands out as a well established pest control business with excellent reputation in the market-place.
